Aruba cruise port: what to do in 6 hours
Your ship is in port for 6 hours or so? Once you subtract getting off, the way back and a margin before all aboard, you have roughly 4 to 5 hours to enjoy. This is what a 6-hour stop makes possible.
Best use of 6 hours
- Arashi Beach and California Lighthouse (3.5 h, 25 min away): Quieter beach at the north tip with easy snorkelling from shore, a short drive below the California Lighthouse.
- Mangel Halto (3.5 h, 25 min away): Mangroves, shallow turquoise water and a reef further out. A local favourite for snorkelling; currents beyond the reef can be strong.
- Catamaran snorkel trip (4 h, 15 min away): Sail up the west coast to the Antilla wreck and the reefs at Boca Catalina. Most trips last 3–4 hours, include snorkel gear and drinks, and leave from Palm Beach or near the terminal.
- Arikok National Park and the Natural Pool (5 h, 30 min away): Desert landscape, caves with rock drawings and the Natural Pool on the rugged north coast. The road to the pool needs a 4x4, so most people go on a jeep or UTV tour. There is a park entry fee.
- Baby Beach (5 h, 40 min away): A shallow, sheltered lagoon at the far southern tip, near the street-art town of San Nicolas. Great for children and weak swimmers, but far from the ship: leave plenty of margin.
Also fits, with time to spare
Downtown Oranjestad on foot (1.5 h), Eagle Beach (3 h), Palm Beach (3 h), Island tour (3 h). You could combine two of these.
