Grand Turk cruise port: what to do in 6 hours
Your ship is in port for 6 hours or so? Once you subtract getting off, the way back and a margin before all aboard, you have roughly 4 to 5 hours to enjoy. This is what a 6-hour stop makes possible.
Best use of 6 hours
- Gibbs Cay stingray trip (3.5 h, at the pier): A short boat ride to an uninhabited cay east of the island, where southern stingrays come to the shallows to be fed. Usually combined with snorkelling. Boats pick up at or near the Cruise Center.
- Diving or snorkelling the Grand Turk Wall (3.5 h, 10 min away): The reef drops off into very deep water only a few hundred metres off the west coast. Local dive shops in Cockburn Town run two-tank dives and snorkel trips timed for ship days; between January and April humpback whales pass offshore.
Also fits, with time to spare
Cruise Center beach and pool (1 h), Cockburn Town: Front Street and Duke Street (2 h), Turks and Caicos National Museum (2 h), Governor's Beach (2.5 h), Grand Turk Lighthouse (2.5 h), Island tour by van or dune buggy (3 h). You could combine two of these.
