Beach
Cruise Center beach and pool
White sand and clear water a few steps from the gangway, plus a large free-form pool at Margaritaville. Loungers on the sand are free; cabanas and some pool areas cost extra. Snorkelling off this beach is limited.
Town
Cockburn Town: Front Street and Duke Street
Low wooden and stone houses from the Bermudian salt era, the old prison, churches and a quiet waterfront. Small enough to see in an hour; few shops are open, which is part of the appeal.
Town
Turks and Caicos National Museumbeing verified
In a 19th-century house on Front Street: finds from the Molasses Reef wreck, one of the oldest known European wrecks in the Americas, and the salt-industry story. Small entry fee; opening days are limited, so check before you go.
Beach
Governor's Beach
Quieter, longer beach north of the pier, with casuarina trees for shade and calm, shallow water. There are no facilities or vendors to speak of, so bring water and your own snorkel gear.
Nature
Grand Turk Lighthousebeing verified
Cast-iron lighthouse from 1852 on the windswept northern tip, with views over the reef and the Atlantic. Often visited on an island tour; there is a small entry fee to the park.
Tour
Island tour by van or dune buggy
A loop past the old salt ponds (salinas) with their flamingos and wading birds, Cockburn Town and the lighthouse. Self-drive buggy and golf-cart tours are popular; remember to keep left.
Water
Gibbs Cay stingray tripbeing verified
A short boat ride to an uninhabited cay east of the island, where southern stingrays come to the shallows to be fed. Usually combined with snorkelling. Boats pick up at or near the Cruise Center.
Water
Diving or snorkelling the Grand Turk Wall
The reef drops off into very deep water only a few hundred metres off the west coast. Local dive shops in Cockburn Town run two-tank dives and snorkel trips timed for ship days; between January and April humpback whales pass offshore.
